Ryan grew up in Philadelphia and graduated from Northeast Catholic High School in 1990. He resides in Northeast Philadelphia with his wife of 25 years, Susan; his son, Matthew; and his daughter, Megan.

 

Ryan entered the apprenticeship in August 1996 and has since worked on many jobs as a Superintendent, General Foreman, Foreman and Steward.

 

Ryan has served the Local Union in many capacities. In 2010, he was appointed to the Sick Committee and served until 2013. He has served on the Bucks County AFL-CIO and is currently on the Philadelphia AFL-CIO. Ryan is a member of the union’s Bylaws Committee.

 

In 2016, Ryan was elected Inside Guard, and then in 2018, he was appointed to the Executive Board. In 2019, Ryan was elected to continue serving on the Executive Board and proudly served until he was appointed Vice President in 2022. Ryan has been serving the Local Union as Business Agent since February 2022. He had the territories of Philadelphia (north of Spring Garden Street) and Bucks County (South of Route 563). He now is assigned the Philadelphia territory of south of Cottman Avenue to Market Street. He is also the current chairman of the building trades in the Northeast-Germantown area.

 

Ryan has been a dedicated and proud 29-year member of this union and its membership, and he looks forward to the opportunity to continue representing Local 420 as Business Agent.
